Selection Board /2011

TAKREEM Selection Board consists of individuals from across the MENA region that are recognized experts in their fields. They come together from diverse professions, renowned for their distinctions and achievements, and their responsibility is to draw up a carefully considered short-list of candidates in each award category that is dealt with independently of the other.

	For over 30 years, Dr. Farida Allaghi has been actively involved in establishing countless international and regional foundations and non-governmental organizations primarily focusing on the status of women, youth and children, minorities and the poor.
	Dr. Allaghi is a pioneer for human rights and the empowerment of the poor and disadvantaged. Dr. Allaghi has supported advancement of understanding and dialogue between cultures and religions.
	Dr. Allaghi has worked with many United Nations organizations, especially the UN Children’s Fund UNICEF and the Arab Gulf Program for the United Nations Development Organization AGFUND.
	Dr. Allaghi is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Mentor Foundation headed by HRH Queen Sylvia of Sweden and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Thought Foundation and a member of several key regional and international Arab advisory boards which focus on human development, human rights and civil society.
	Dr. Allaghi is the recipient of several awards due to her contributions to the field of human development.
	In 2005, she was selected between 1000 women for the Nobel Peace Prize.
